MEET FORMAT: The meet will be swum as timed-finals. Each session will be seeded by computer based on positive check-in at the beginning of each session. Coaches will receive a positive check-in sheet before each session, which must be returned no later than 30 minutes before the beginning of the session. Heat sheets will be posted around the pool deck. Coaches will be able to pick up heat sheets for each event at the control office. The 800 meter and 1500 meter freestyle events will be swum fast-to-slow, alternating heats of women and men.

SITE: Blodgett Pool features an 8 lane, 50 meter competition course with Kiefer Advantage II lane lines, a fully automatic Daktronics Timing System with alphanumeric scoreboard, and touchpads at both ends of the course. Starting blocks are custom Track Start Competitor mondel blocks by Paragon Aquatics, with a 24” x 32” starting surface. There is a diving well area that will be available for warm-up and warm-down activities. The facility has seating for 1200 spectators. The pool is located near the Harvard Football Stadium, at 65 North Harvard Street, Boston MA 02163. Directions may be found below. The competition course has been certified in accordance with 104.2.2C(4). The copy of such certification is on file with USA Swimming.

COURSE: Long course meters (50 meters). 50-meter events will start at the starting end of the course, and finish at the turn end of the course. The starting end of the course has a depth of 7 feet. The turn end of the course has a depth of 3 feet 9 inches. .

ELIGIBILITY: All contestants must be 2009 USA Swimming registered athletes. All swimmers must be registered before the entry is submitted. Teams that enter unregistered swimmers will be subject to a fine of $100 per unregistered swimmer. New England teams entering the meet are encouraged to check their entries with the online registration check tool on the New England Swimming web site. Please contact the New England Swimming Office for registration information. Disabled swimmer forms are available from the New England Swimming Office. ENTRY INFORMATION: 75% of entries will be reserved and 25% will be open lottery. Entries will be accepted on and after April 15, 2009. Entries received before April 15, 2009 will be considered received on April 15, 2009. Entries must be received no later than 5 PM, May 1st 2009. Make checks payable to “Cambridge Masters Swim Club”.

Mail completed forms (including signed entry cover page and waiver) and payment to the entry chairperson: Carol Healey 47 May Street Needham, MA 02492 All entries must be typed or printed legibly, and must use full names and registration numbers from USA Swimming registration. All entries must include a completed and signed entry cover sheet and waiver. No deck entries will be accepted. No refunds will be given for entries that are accepted, or for entries that are rejected due to improper entry. Any swimmer who is entered with incorrect swimmer information, or an incorrect or no ID, will be scratched from the meet until corrections are made per the New England swimming policy.

ELECTRONIC ENTRIES: Electronic entries (such as from Hy-Tek Team Manager or other team management software) that are in CL2 or SD3/SDIF format may be emailed as an attachment to the entry chairperson at nemeetentries@comcast.net

Please check that your team name, address, and contact information are listed correctly in this file. For email entries, payment and hardcopy of the entry (including signed entry cover page and waiver) must be received within four (4) days, excluding Sundays and holidays, of receipt of the email entry. If payment is received within four (4) days, excluding Sundays and holidays, of the email entry, the email receipt date will be considered the date of entry. If payment is received more than four (4) days, excluding Sundays and holidays, after the email entry, the payment receipt date will be considered the date of entry.

ENTRY LIMITS: Athletes may enter and swim in a maximum of five (5) events per day. Swimmers will be limited to one (1) event for the Friday and Saturday Mid session. Please be advised that the Saturday distance event is considered part of the five (5) event per day limit.

ENTRY TIME UPATES: Entry times may be updated until 7 days prior to the first day of the meet. No new entries will be accepted after the May 1, 2009 entry deadline. Entry time updates should be sent via email to the entry chairperson at nemeetentries@comcast.net . Entry time updates must be sent as Hy-Tek format CL2 files with updated times. (New entries will be automatically excluded.)

ENTRY FEES: Electronic entries: $4.00 for individual events less than 400 meters in length, and $5.00 for distance events (400 meters and longer). Non-electronic entries: $4.50 for individual events less than 400 meters in length and $5.50 for distance events (400 meters and longer).

SWIMMER PARTICIPATION FEE: $10.00 per swimmer.

ENTRY TIMES: Entry times must meet the "B" cut standard (see events list) and yard times will be seeded after the LCM times. NT's will not be accepted.

ENTRY CUTS: Entry cuts, if necessary, will be made by the date of receipt and time. Teams will be notified that they have been accepted or cut from the meet within seven days of receipt of entry. This meet will follow the 75/25 process outlined by NE Swimming policy. The host team will guarantee up to 75% of the entries for selected teams (including host team). If the meet becomes oversubscribed for the remaining 25% of the entries, then a random selection of those entries received on the date the meet becomes oversubscribed will be conducted in accordance with New England Swimming guidelines. Teams that are cut from the meet will have their entry fee returned within four days of being cut. The meet director reserves the right to cut the following events by time: 400 free, 800 free, 1500 free, and 400 IM.

RELAYS: There will be no relay events.

PROGRAMS: $5.00 for entire meet program.

ADMISSION: $1.00 per session.

WARMUPS: The pool will open for warm-ups one hour before the beginning of each session. The pool will close ten minutes before the beginning of each session. Teams will be assigned warm-up lanes and time slots after all entries are received.

SAFETY:

1. Diving will be prohibited during warm-ups except in specifically announced one-way sprint lanes. There will be no diving in the warm-up and warm-down areas at any time.
2. No shaving is permitted at the competition site.
3. No glass containers are permitted within the facility.
4. Swimmers must be under the supervision of a coach. If a swimmer arrives at the meet without a coach, the swimmer should notify the referee before he/she warms up. The referee will assign the swimmer to a registered coach for warm-ups.
5. No camera cell phones are permitted in the locker rooms.

RULES: 2009 USA Swimming rules will govern all competition. Decisions by the meet referee will be final unless a written protest is lodged within 30 minutes of the heat swum. All events will be swum as timed finals. Swimmers must provide their own counters and timers for the 400 meter, the 800 meter and the 1500 meter freestyle events.

DECK ACCESS: Only athletes, coaches, officials, and official meet staff are permitted on the pool deck. All non-athletes on the pool deck must display their USA Swimming registration card at all times. Individuals without their USA Swimming registration card will be removed from the pool deck, and will be subject to a fine by New England Swimming.

SCORING: The meet will not be scored. FOOD: A concession stand will be in operation for the duration of the meet.

EQUIPMENT VENDOR: “SWIM NEW JERSEY”, a swimming equipment vendor, will be selling suits, goggles, and other accessories for the duration of the meet.

MISCELLANEOUS: Harvard University and the Harvard University Club Team assume no responsibility for lost or stolen property. Pets of any kind and smoking are not permitted within the facility.

DIRECTIONS: The street address for Blodgett Pool is 65 North Harvard Street, Boston MA 02163.

From the West: Take the Massachusetts Turnpike east to Exit 18 (Allston/Cambridge). After paying toll, bear left at fork towards Allston. Turn right at second set of lights onto North Harvard Street. Proceed approximately one mile. The entrance to the Harvard Business School parking lot will be on your right, on Albert H. Gordon Road, opposite the football stadium.

From the North: Take I-93 south to Storrow Drive exit. Take Storrow Drive west for approximately five miles. Exit at Harvard Square/North Harvard Street. At the top of the exit, turn left onto North Harvard Street . Approximately 1/4 mile on your left will be the entrance to the Harvard Business School parking lot, on Albert H. Gordon Road, opposite the football stadium.

From the South: Take I-95 north to I-93 north. Follow I-93 to Exit 20 (Massachusetts Turnpike). Take Mass. Pike west to Exit 20 (Allston/Cambridge). After paying toll, bear left at fork towards Allston. Turn right at second set of lights onto North Harvard Street. Proceed approximately one mile. The entrance to the Harvard Business School parking lot will be on your right, on Albert H. Gordon Road, opposite the football stadium.

Via M.B.T.A. (subway/bus): The Red Line subway stops at Harvard Square. Blodgett Pool is a 10-minute walk from the square, down John F. Kennedy St. and over the Charles River. Several bus routes make stops at Harvard Square as well. The 66 and 86 routes include stops on North Harvard Street in front of Harvard Stadium and Blodgett Pool.
